I am passionate about veganism and often consider the ways I can help animals. Billions of animals suffer needlessly at the hands of humans every year. The great thing is that every single person can do a huge amount to not only help but to also save animals.
Here are my top 5 ways that we can all support animals and make the world a better place;
1. Go Vegan! Leave Animals Off Your Plate
This one sounds obvious but is often overlooked. By not eating animals and going vegan you can save up to 300 animals per year. The dairy industry is responsible for the torture and death of animals so by not supporting this cruel industry you can be sure that you’ll make a big difference. It all comes down to supply and demand and people are voting with their wallets.
2. Avoid Wearing Animals
There are lots of great ethical brands to choose from. Check the label on your new jacket or jumper in order to avoid fur. Take care to avoid wool, down and leather products. http://features.peta.org/how-to-wear-vegan/default.aspx
3. Donate to Charity
This could take many forms whether it’s donating your time, donating your used clothing and other goods or donating money. My favourite charity is Animal Equality https://animalequality.org.uk/ They have won many awards for their work over the years and you can be sure that your donations are used as efficiently as possible.
4. Tell Your Family and Friends
Educate your family and friends about the horrors of the dairy industry and suggest to them to use alternative milk, such as Soya or Oat. Post on your Instagram about a great vegan restaurant you’ve tried out. Tell people about the health benefits of veganism. There are many ways we can share the joys of a compassionate lifestyle with our loved ones.
5. Activism
Join your local Anonymous for the Voiceless group https://www.anonymousforthevoiceless.org/ who focus on street activism or consider going to a local Save Movement http://thesavemovement.org/
6. March For Animals
Consider joining an Animal Rights March, the biggest one in 2018 was led by charity surge, attracting over 10,000 people.
7. Adopt An Animal
This may be in the form of adopting a cat or dog from an animal rescue shelter. You can also adopt animals virtually through sponsorship. For example I adopted Freda The Pig here; https://www.thefarmanimalsanctuary.co.uk/adopt/
Everyone is capable of making change and supporting animal rights. You can make immediate change today.
